Cavan is a Scottish designer working in natural/low impact colour pigment application in fashion and textiles. A deep understanding on the fashion design and production system has allowed Cavan to place natural dye application from small scale sampling to larger scale production both within their Scottish dyehouse and collaborating with industrial mills. Working holistically with a plethora of industry professionals such as creative design directors, farmers and factory leads has allowed Cavan to showcase the contemporary aesthetics and environmental benefits of natural dyes within the current system of fashion.
Innovations in creative application have recently been showcased by The Woolmark Prize 2023 and LVMH Prize 2023.
Natural dye colour work can be seen for Alexander McQueen, Nike, Salomon, Egg Trading, Paolina Russo, Sinead O’Dwyer to name a few, and stocked in notable stores such as Dover Street Market, Selfridges and Browns.
